Hendricks Excited for USAC Mid-America Midget Week

Inside Line Promotions – STILLWATER, Okla. (July 9, 2018) – It’s been nearly a month and a half since Zane Hendricks last competed, which is both a blessing and a curse.

The break allowed the Tucker-Boat Motorsports team to rebuild following a rough outing throughout Indiana Midget Week in late May and early June. However, it also has kept Hendricks from staying fresh behind the wheel.

“The thing that’s been the most challenging part of this year is racing five or six times and then have a month off,” he said. “You get out of the racing groove. Plus, with USAC I think I’d only been to two of the tracks we’ve raced at. Luckily running with Chad and Billy (Boat) they’ve been to almost all of the tracks so they know what they’re doing and they give me a good car each night. That helps a lot between the setup and driving advice.”

Hendricks will have plenty of opportunity to race during the next week as he is entering Mid-America Midget Week with the USAC P1 Insurance National Midgets. The opening round is Tuesday at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla.

“Red Dirt Raceway is 30 minutes from where I grew up,” Hendricks said. “I’ve been there a few times between racing and just going to watch. It’s my most confident track we’ll go to this week. We ran there last year in the midget and I was running third until we had some break issues. It’s a really fun track. Plus, it’s the only time I race within five hours of home all year.”

The remaining Mid-America Midget Week races are Wednesday at Solomon Valley Speedway in Beloit, Kan.; Friday and Saturday at Jefferson County Speedway in Fairbury, Neb.; and Sunday at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo.

“I’d like to run in the top 10 every night,” Hendricks said. “I’d like to have a couple of top fives and podiums, but I don’t really know what to expect. We’ve had fast cars all season so we’ll do our best to be in contention for great finishes each night.”
